About Konami’s Castlevania NFTs
Konami began their NFT journey to celebrate Castlevania’s 35th Anniversary with the launch of the “Konami Memorial NFT Collection”. The artwork comprised of video clips alongside music.
The NFTs also included pixel art and familiar music tracks to fans of the series and games. In addition to this, each one included ‘unlockable content’ which can only be unlocked and revealed by owners.
Finally, the company have stated that purchasers of the NFTs will be entitled to have your nickname posted on their website.
On January 12th-14th, Konami sold their first NFTs through an OpenSea auction. The average sale price was 3.5063 ETH, around $12,000. However, the highest sale price was 7.718 ETH, or around $25,000.
Now, in the aftermarket, the current lowest listing is at 30 ETH, which is just under $100,000. However, none of the NFTs has currently sold at this price. Of the 14 items, there are 13 owners.
Konami is a Japanese entertainment and video game company that develops, distributes and publishes games. Also, they also produce trading cards and other merchandise.
Some of the company’s most popular games include Metal Gear, Castlevania, Silent Hill, Contra, Frogger, The Simpsons Arcade Game and eFootball (formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer).
The company was started in 1969 by Kagemasa Kōzuki. Now, the company serves gamers worldwide and has an HQ in Tokyo, Japan. Also, it is still owned by the Kōzuki family.
Konami’s step into NFTs is very forward-thinking, and they’ve followed the steps of other video game companies such as Ubisoft in doing this. As of right now, we don’t know if we’ll see more moves further into the space by Konami, but you can keep up to date with their movements through Twitter. We could see a new collection, or a step into the metaverse, however, we won’t know until something is confirmed.
